However, it’s important to note that dermaplaning should be avoided by individuals with inflamed or irritated skin, sunburn, or active/cystic acne. It’s best to wait until the skin is clear and no longer irritated before undergoing this treatment.

Contraindications include:

• Hormonal imbalances affecting hair growth
• Use of blood thinners (including high-dose aspirin)
• Recent use of Accutane or isotretinoin (within the last 6 months)
• Recent use of Retin-A (within the last 5 days)
• Open lesions or cold sores
• Contagious skin disorders
• Uncontrolled diabetes
• Blood-borne diseases
• Cancer or prescription-strength exfoliants (doctor clearance may be required)

It is crucial to discuss any health-related issues or medications you are taking with your provider to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the treatment.

Pre treatment

• 1 Week before: Avoid sun exposure
• 48 Hours before: Stop all actives and exfoliants

Post treatment

No excessive heat/strenuous exercise for 24 hours
Drink plenty of water
No actives or exfoliants for at least 5 days following treatment – this may be longer for some skin types due to increased sensitivity
Minimise sun exposure and apply a SPF30+ or higher every day
